After 15 years of exceptional support for our work at The Tindall Foundation, Joan Withers has resigned as Trustee. Although we are very sad to see her go, we are hugely grateful to her for her long standing service to our foundation and the enormous value she has brought to the Trustee team.

Joan gave her time as an advisor to The Tindall Foundation from 1995 to 2006, before becoming a Trustee in 2010. She has served on our board for the past six years along with foundation co-founders Stephen and Margaret Tindall, their son Robbie and independent Trustee Jennifer Casey.

Joan has also dedicated many hours to specific Tindall Foundation funded projects and organisations, including Grow our Own Workforce and Global Women.

Margaret and Stephen Tindall pay tribute to Joan and thank her for all she has done for the Foundation and many of the organisations we give money to.

“Joan has been an outstanding Trustee at The Tindall Foundation for many years. She has put her heart and soul into this role, bringing with her a brilliant business mind, an eye for detail, a wealth of experience, and true empathy and passion to make a difference. We are incredibly grateful to her for the many hundreds of hours she has volunteered as a Trustee. We are sorry to see her go and wish her all the very best for the future.”

Joan reflects on her time at The Tindall Foundation.

“It has been an enormous privilege serving as a Tindall Foundation trustee and being able to see first-hand the real difference philanthropy makes. Sir Stephen and Lady Margaret’s financial generosity is laudable in itself, but the rigour, discipline and work involved in running a Trust such as the Tindall Foundation requires ongoing commitment, tenacity and sometimes bravery. What I have also enjoyed is watching the next generation of the Tindall family embrace the opportunity to give back to New Zealanders and join their parents philosophically and practically in their approach to giving.”
