Vic Tamati of It’s Not OK and Safe Man Safe Families

Nurturing The Future (NTF), The Tindall Foundation-funded West Coast family support community organisation, featured on TV2’s ‘20/20’ programme on Thursday 20 March in an article about stopping male perpetrators of family violence. The article focuses on Vic Tamati, who has been working for the ‘It’s Not OK’ Campaign for 6 years and started his own programme Safe Man Safe Family to support other men to be violence free.

We think the whole article is worth watching, even though it can be a bit harrowing and features some violent language and images. NTF features from 8 minutes 40 secs in, so you may want to skip to there.

Nurturing The Future works home by home, street by street to reconnect and build a community where children are at the core. They do this by creating a community where members are offered education, awhi, therapeutic support, advocacy and intervention. Visit the website here.

The It’s not OK campaign is a community-driven effort to reduce family violence in New Zealand. Its goal is to change attitudes and behaviour that tolerate any kind of family violence. Visit the website here.
