This is a milestone for the fledgling Home Performance Advisor training scheme, launched earlier in the year as a joint venture between Community Energy Network, Beacon Pathway and The Enviroschools Foundation.

The level one and two courses set the minimum level of understanding required to provide effective advice on home performance.  Level one focuses on energy use in the home, while level two provides comprehensive coverage of all aspects of home performance.

The vision of the Home Performance Advisor scheme is for homeowners to be able to rely on advice that is based on the latest research and best practice.  Advice should be tailored for their home, and independent so that they know it’s not trying to sell them anything.

“We’re thrilled with progress this year,” says Heidi Mardon (Enviroschools Foundation). “The programme now has certified advisors from Kaitaia to Invercargill, and we’re looking forward to building on this in 2015.”

The Tindall Foundation has committed $199,733 over 4 years for Community Energy Network to develop the capacity to advance this and other projects, alongside its partners.
