Nikau Foundation is pleased to announce their commitment to supporting youth organisations in Kāpiti through their 2018 grants and sponsorship programme. The Community Foundation and its Nikau Kāpiti Fund has long supported youth charities in the district with over $50,000 committed in grants since 2011. Nikau Foundation is a funding manager for The Tindall Foundation in the Wellington Region and organisations like Youth Quest (now part of KYS) have previously benefitted from their youth funding stream. This is set to continue this year through a range of support, including Nikau’s sponsorship of this year’s Kāpiti Run for Youth held on Sunday 25th March.
Nikau Foundation Deputy Chair, Liz Koh, says “the support of charities working in the youth space will continue as a special focus for our Kāpiti granting. We see the sponsorship of this successful KR4Y fundraising event as an integral part of our role to encourage generosity. Everyone can make a contribution – through participation in these types of events, or donating to support the participants.”
Nikau Foundation’s formal grant round will open in August this year with grants of up to $5,000 paid out in December for successful applicants. “We look forward to hearing from any charity working to benefit youth by way of application on our website at www.nikaufoundation.org.nz by the 31st August ’says Liz.
Nikau also encourages individuals who are passionate about long-term positive outcomes for youth to take action by participating in annual events like the Kāpiti Run for Youth (www.kapitirunforyouth.co.nz) or donate directly to the Nikau Kapiti Fund before the 31st March to claim back a 33% tax credit.
