The NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards, which have been running for 17 years, recognise and celebrate success in sustainability. Salvation Army and BNZ have been named a finalist in the Partnering for Good category.

The winners will be revealed at a black tie Awards ceremony on 28 November on Auckland’s waterfront.

Salvation Army has partnered with BNZ to deliver its The Good Shop initiative in South Auckland and Porirua.

The Good Shop is a mobile shopping vehicle that is available to visit your home.  It has two services – a grocery shopping service for people who have trouble getting to a supermarket and a home based shopping service to purchase household and personal items at store prices on interest free terms.

For many years The Salvation Army has been working with clients experiencing the effects of high interest, high-fee loans.  We have seen, first hand, the long term detrimental effects this can have for New Zealand whanau.  For the past four years The Salvation Army has developed experience in providing interest-free loans in its Community Finance programme.  It now feels well-equipped to provide a similar alternative in the mobile shopping industry.

The other finalists in the Partnering for Good category include:
