Our Local Donation Manager (LDM) model is 25 years old! Way back when we began, TTF was inundated with funding requests and we wondered how we could possibly begin to understand or know where the greatest needs were being based at an office in Auckland.
So was born the LDM model — utilising local knowledge, expertise and connection to community to allocate funds to social service providers that align with our values and outcomes. LDMs cover not just towns and cities, but rural or isolated areas too.
These well-established organisations with proven people and structures in place are our eyes and ears on the ground. There are 23 LDMs across the motu that work alongside about 550 organisations and their work echoes the spirit of our co-founder Margaret Tindall, who has herself volunteered in social services for over 40 years.
Each year LDMs distribute approximately $3–4 million of TTF funds that align to our whānau and environmental giving areas. This year we celebrate the difference that LDMs have made to communities over the past 25 years. We thank them and believe that their mahi will benefit future generations to come
